Initially I wanted to make this a post only on shoujo manga, but later realised that I haven’t been up to date with my list of shoujo manga, and hence am expanding this post and including manga from various other genres. Moving on~
Orange – from Takano Ichigo
One look at the cover should be enough to tell you that this is a shoujo manga owo~ The cover may seem all cheerful and everything, but the tragedy and mystery are a few of the genres along with shoujo and romance. Currently, its one of the few mangas which I’m definitely hoping would have an anime adaptation.
The story starts off with 16 year old Takamiya Naho, who recieved a letter from herself, ten years into the future. The letter was very detailed and stated what she should do events that would occur each day pertaining to Naruse Kakeru, the new transfer student. The letter is in fact a diary entry from herself at that time, except 10 years later. [If you get what I mean ._.] Even though the things in the letter did happen, Naho did not follow the letter’s instructions and was scared to finish reading the letter until 2 weeks later. That is when she found out that Future Naho’s biggest regret is that Kakeru is no longer with them in the future and she asks her to watch him closely.
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari – Aneko Yusagi
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, also known as “The Rising of the Shield Hero” was introduced to me by a friend who told me to read the lightnovel of it. Sadly, I don’t really read lightnovels due to the one problem being that I fall asleep easily reading them ._. [Im sorry ln fans] However, I did proceed to the manga, and yes, the manga was pretty darn good in my opinion 😀
The plot for Tate no Yuusha is certainly different, mostly because the main character of the manga is portrayed as an antagonist to the majority of the other characters despite being a hero. This is due to the fact that the main character, Iwatani Naofumi was summoned into another world as a Shield Hero. As the name goes, who expects anything to be done with a shield? <- [totally reminds me of Absolute Duo..] After being tossed aside and labeled as the weakest, Naofumi vowed to exact revenge on the people who had betrayed him and sets off on his journey.
Another thing about this manga is that the characters are really lovable. Naofumi isn’t a smartass nor a pro and has his own flaws. Hence showing how he grows throughout the manga. Despite him being often wrong in his assumptions, he does have some wits and knows how to put whatever he has to use. Sadly, the manga also features harem so… *sighs* Other than that, its good.
Te to Kuchi – Oosaki Tomohito
*For mature audiences*
Te to Kuchi is definitely one of my favourite manga. As above, this manga is suited for mature audiences because of their drawings now and then but anyways…
Set in the Edo period, an apprentice of a merchant, Daikokuya Shusuke, whose favourite hobby is talking meets the graceful expert swords-woman Hanamura Rie who works as a benriya [hired hand]. With their own interesting background and set of skills, the two will come together to solve mysteries and complete odd jobs so that Rie can pay back her rent to Shusuke’s merchant mentor.
It probably will be biased coming from me considering that I like the genre of mystery a lot, but this manga is the kind that will constantly bring me back for more. Nope, not because of the boobs but for the actual content which the manga has to offer. The little mysteries which Shusuke and Rie chance upon now and then all tend to have a tint of mystery involved, with Shusuke ultimately being the detective and Rie bringing down justice unto whoever it is..The backgrounds for both characters seem slightly intriguing and are definitely linked as well. Lastly, I really love Shusuke’s overboard rambling sometimes. I have no idea why either.
But yeah this manga is good. Too bad it takes quite awhile to release a chapter….and there really is no need for fanservice to make it more popular…yea. Also, this manga reminds me of Adekan. …..
~ChibiOtaku010~ *oh and yea, Akagami no Shirayukihime is getting and anime adaptation…WOOOHOOOOOOO* ~(*A*~)
